QCF DIPLOMA IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE LEVEL 2
Overview
The QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 is a nationally recognised qualification based on the Health and Social Care National Occupation Standards approved by Skills for Care and Development.
The award will confirm knowledge, skills and competence for care assistants/support worker/keyworkers with adults and children across all social care settings, such as within residential settings, primary care environments, domiciliary services, day services and supported living.
Outline of Programme
Each unit within the Diploma has a credit rating and to achieve the QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 delegates must complete 9 mandatory units (24 credits) along with a choice of optional knowledge and competence units equalling an overall 46 credits.

Unit 1: Introduction to Communication in Health & Social Care Settings
Unit 2: Introduction to Personal Development in Health & Social Care Settings
Unit 3: Introduction to Equality and Inclusion in Health & Social Care Settings
Unit 4: Introduction to Duty of Care in Health & Social Care Settings
Unit 5: Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health & Social Care Settings
Unit 6: The Role of the Health & Social Care Worker
Unit 7: Implement Person-Centred Approaches in Health & Social Care Settings
Unit 8: Contribute to Health & Safety in Health & Social Care
Unit 9: Handle Information in Health & Social Care Settings
The optional knowledge and competence units cover different areas of health and social care such as supporting those with disabilities, learning disabilities or dementia, infection control and supported living.
Delegates have the opportunity to take a general qualification in Health and Social Care, or they may follow a specialist pathway in areas such as Dementia or Learning Disabilities.
Assessment
Assessment takes place through evaluation of work-based performance, presenting evidence, witness testimony and questioning. A portfolio of evidence is produced which demonstrates that the delegate can perform to the level described. Delegates will all have an occupationally competent QCF Diploma assessor who will help assemble the portfolio and prepare for assessment.
Entry Requirements
The course is open to delegates over 16 years old, of either gender and there are no entry barriers on the grounds of race, creed or academic attainment in learning. However, delegates must be employed in a workplace relevant to the occupational standards for Health and Social Care to enable them to complete the qualification successfully.
How long will it take?
There are no fixed periods for completion, however, depending on experience most delegates complete within 6-9 months.
Progression
On completion of this program delegates are able to progress on QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3.

Each unit within the Diploma has a credit rating and to achieve the QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 delegates must complete 9 mandatory units (28 credits) along with a choice of optional knowledge and competence units equalling an overall 58 credits.

QCF LEVEL 5 DIPLOMA IN LEADERSHIP FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE AND CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE SERVICES
Overview
The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services is aimed at individuals who lead social care provision in an adult or a children and young people’s setting, either as managers of the provision or as senior practitioners.
Outline of Programme
Candidates are able to join the course at four points throughout the year i.e. April, July, October and January.
Each unit within the Diploma has a credit rating and to achieve the QCF Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care and Children and Young People learners must complete knowledge and competence units equalling an overall 80 credits. Learners must achieve 53 credits from the mandatory units and a further 27 credits from the optional units selections.

Unit 4: Develop health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices in health and social care or children and young people’s settings

Unit 7: Safeguarding and protection of vulnerable adults
Unit 8: Understand safeguarding of children and young people (for those working in the adult sector) Unit 9: Lead person centred practice
Unit 10: Lead and manage a team within a health and social care or children and young people’s setting
Unit 11: Develop professional supervision practice in health and social care or children and young people’s work settings
Unit 12: Assess the individual in a health and social care setting

Participants will all have a vocationally competent QCF NVQ Diploma assessor who will help assemble the portfolio and prepare for assessment.

The course is open to candidates at least 19 years old, of either gender and there are no entry barriers on the grounds of race or creed. However, candidates must be employed in a workplace relevant to the occupational standards for Health and Social Care to enable them to complete the qualification successfully. Candidates should have ideally achieved qualifications in a related area at level 3 or above. However this qualification can be accessed by candidates without such a qualification who have significant vocational experience ideally in a supervisory or management role.
How long will it take?
There are no fixed periods for completion, however the course will run over 20 months and candidates will receive 8 guided learning hours per week.
Cost
The cost of the course is £1450 plus a registration fee of £121. Payments can be made monthly over 12months.
